The Autism Centre is an independent autism and ADHD diagnostic and support centre based in Bridgend, South Wales. We have a number of highly skilled clinicians who perform our diagnostic assessments.
We offer appointments either in our Bridgend clinic rooms, which are conveniently located with easy motorway access for Bristol, Newport, Cardiff and Swansea; or remotely via Google Meet or Microsoft Teams to provide an online, UK-wide service.
Our lead clinicians are Dr James Adamson (a Clinical Psychologist) and Jenny Wombell (a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist).
Dr James Adamson is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, HCPC No. PYL041629. He has worked with neurodiverse individuals since 2015 and been trained in various diagnostic assessment tools (including ADI-r and ADOS-2) since 2017.
Having worked both for the NHS and in private practice with children and adults, he has completed hundreds of diagnostic assessments and supported individuals and families through the process and post-diagnosis with a speciality in treating mental health concerns.
Jenny Wombell is a registered Speech and Language Therapist, HCPC No. SL19089, member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and ASLTIP. She has worked with neurodiverse individuals since 2006 and has been trained in various diagnostic assessment tools (including ADI-r, ADOS-2 modules 1-4 and toddler module and RAADS) since 2014. She has worked for both the NHS and in a private capacity with pre-school and school aged children, and adults, completing many diagnostic assessments every year.
Previously, Jenny was the Clinical and Team Lead for the West Wales Integrated Autism Service covering Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. She has supported individuals, families and professionals through the diagnostic process and post diagnosis specialising in selective mutism and looked after/adopted children.
