You are invited to make an initial enquiry to the Autism Centre about a private autism diagnostic assessment. If you decide to proceed with an assessment, we will send consent and case history forms to be completed. You are invited to ask questions and arrange for a phone consultation with one of our experienced clinicians should you so wish via an email to hello@autismcentre.co.uk.
If the you are happy to proceed with the private autism diagnostic assessment, the Autism Centre will provide the family with available dates for the ADOS-2 and ADI-r assessments. An invoice is sent to the family on confirmation of the assessment dates.
As part of the assesment, a questionnaire will be sent to either an education setting in the case of a client in education or to the adult's partner/place of work, to be completed and returned to us prior to the multidisciplinary meeting.
The ADOS-2 informed assessment is an observation session with the referred individual and will take place online, or at our clinic location in Bridgend, South Wales. This session will last up to 2½ hours and the clinician will also discuss the contents of the completed case history form.
The ADI-r assessment is a detailed semi-structured interview with a parent/guardian for an individual under 18 or in the case of an adult, their parent or somebody who knew them well as a child. The ADI-r assessment is conducted online via Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. The ADI-r assessment takes approximately 2½ hours to complete.
A multidisciplinary meeting will be held with the ADOS-2 clinician and the ADI-r clinician, and either a diagnostic decision will be made or further information will be sought. If further infomration is required, an additional multi-disciplinary meeting will take place once that information is available.
Once the multidisciplinary team meeting(s) are completed, you will be invited to a half hour long online feedback appointment to discuss the outcome of the assessment and the draft report. The draft report will be sent to the family 2 days prior to the feedback appointment.
A final multidisciplinary report will be sent no later than 2 weeks following the feedback appointment.
